Staff Review: FLR F-70 Mountain Bike Shoe
Share

Recently I was in desperate need for a new pair of gravel shoes, the smell from my old pair was getting too much. After doing some research, I decided on the FLR F-70 mountain bike shoes - a blend of old school velcro strap at the bottom and easy to adjust speed/boa dial system. This system creates an even and supportive shoe that is comfortable and fits well. I really don’t know why I have held onto my old shoes for so long, these bike shoes are a game changer for many reasons. I’m really impressed with the minimal lining. My previous shoes took forever to dry out and contributed to the residual stench in the car.
The FLR F-70 Mountain Bike Shoe is the perfect blend, an all-round shoe, that works well for a wide range of outdoor applications. Being part of the FLR mountain bike range ,the F-70 will accommodate a broad range of SPD style cleats. Over a few weeks, the FLR F-70 have been my go-to for mid-week spin classes and weekend gravel/ mountain bike rides.

So why did I choose the FLR F-70 over the more expensive carbon version FLR FX -9:
The FLR F-70 are ideal, I often wonder: Do MTB shoes need to be as stiff as road shoes? Personally, I was looking for a mountain bike shoe that was flexible to walk in. A stiff rigid shoe isn’t always ideal especially on steep muddy or even slippery tiled surfaces, I’ll never forget hitting the deck at the local café and being the morning entertainment. Toe spikes won’t save you hitting the deck.
Carbon road shoes might be a fantastic choice, providing maximum power output with every stroke. Keep in mind that a stiffer shoe can also contribute to lasting fatigue. I would much prefer having a nice pair of shoes that fit well while reducing fatigue on hips and preventing niggling knee pain. Anything that can reduce tight back muscles and hamstrings the following week is a bonus.

Also, the coffee/trail crew have started enjoying the cooler morning Saturday shop ride 8:00am to 10:00am from Patterson Lakes.
